Action for Health is an independent initiative led by young people advocating for a healthier Melbourne through improved urban design.
We’re a platform for civic engagement amongst young people to act upon urban, local policies that will have a direct effect on their lives and health. We're guided by principles of sustainable development, the social determinants of health and community.
Born out of a desire to see tangible change in our local communities, our focus on councils and state government reflects our desire for, and belief in, community driven change.
Our non-partisan, participatory and evidence-based approach ensures that we reflect the views of young people in creating a healthier Melbourne that we want to live in. And we’re independent – so you know we’re here for health and not for anything else.
We’re ready to change things for a healthier tomorrow, and we need your voice – will you join us?
Right now, we're
- Informing you how your vote will impact health in the Victorian State Election with #VoteHealth - have a look to see how you can change your future with your preferences this election.
- Campaigning for safer active transport and reduced road trauma by encouraging people to Park Off! For a Healthier Sydney Road - sign up to our campaign!
Voting to improve the health of Victoria shouldn’t be complicated, but it is. We've surveyed political candidates to bring their opinions on the issues that they might vote on which will affect health in our state. Our aim is to bring you relevant information to inform your vote in the electorates of Richmond, Brunswick and Albert Park to help you vote for candidates that will benefit community health.
Park Off! For a safer Sydney Road
We're working towards a healthier Sydney Road to live, work and play on. By removing on-street parking from Sydney Road, active transport such as walking and cycling will become safer and more accessible, promoting healthy lifestyles for residents and the community and increasing usage and attendance of the Sydney Road area.
